Artistic statement

Using Adobe Illustrator, I attempted to recreate this calligram of Spiderman. I picked this for my inspiration as I've been reading comics and watching Superhero movies since I was a kid. It's always been a means of escape for me. Being someone with no experience in Adobe Illustrator, I struggled a bit while crafting this masterpiece. I kept the original image as the background and used the pen tool to trace the outlines. After I had traced the outlines, I used the Type on Path tool and copy pasted the best quotes from the Spiderman movies. Though the final product didn't turn out like the original, I am satisfied with what I achieved. 




Letter to future-self

Dear Hrishit,

What's up G, I hope you're happy, happy with your life, your family, your friends, and with yourself. I hope you are successful with your career, life, and social life, as well as your accomplishments and goals. I hope you take the necessary risks in life; you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. I hope you lost as well as found something.

Do what makes you makes you happy man, forget society. Everything that has happened has led to this exact moment. Don't change a thing. The world is yours.

    I am a big fan of your calligram because I am a big fan of Spider-Man as well! I would have never thought to use the lines on his suit to be replaced by words. I also really like how easily one can tell who it is just based on the eye shape and how expressive it is.

    I love Spider-Man! I like how you added the "shading" into the eye to make it pop more. Very cool! I think your letter could also speak to many other people. Wise Words.

Hello, My name is Hrishit Chaudhury. I was born and raised in New Delhi, India, but I moved to the United States when I was 12. I've lived here for about half my life. I transferred to UT last semester; majoring in computer science. My hobbies include Video games, Music, Cinematography, and Travelling. A movie I'd suggest watching is Blade runner 2049 and an album I'd suggest listening to is Unlocked by Denzel Curry.  I appreciate learning anything related to the STEM field; It will be my first time taking a course on Digital Media.
